Devotional Thoughts for Caregivers

My Shepherd, My Caregiver Mon, Jul 13 2015

The Lord is my shepherd.
Because I am your shepherd and caregiver, you are my precious child. I love you just the way you are, a dedicated caregiver who may be tired, lonely, angry, questioning, and guilt-laden. In my arms you will always find refuge and rest. I proved my love for you when I sent my Son to die on the cross and overcome death. That is assurance as we walk this caregiving season together.

I shall not want.
My precious lamb, my grace will always be sufficient for every step you take. My Word will nourish you. My continual presence will be your strength and hope. Out of my love I will give you resources to help with your loved one – professional caregivers, counselors, family, friends, and more. Look for my blessings interlaced throughout the day.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me besides still waters. He restores my soul.
Pour out your heart to me, and then be still and know that I am God. Spending time with me, your heavenly caregiver, will always renew your attitude and refresh your soul with everlasting hope! Be assured that my mercies will be new each morning, no matter how heavy your burdens.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
I love being with you, my lamb. You will recognize my voice as we spend time together. Throughout the many challenges, choices, and changes you face as a caregiver, I will be there guiding, leading, and comforting you.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me.
As your Almighty Caregiver, I know the valleys you walk through. Not one detail about you, my beloved lamb, goes unnoticed. At times you may doubt that my plans for you are good and full of hope, but I am in control. Trust my faithfulness.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
I take great delight in you. I look forward to heaving you sit at my banqueting table each time you feast on my Word and commune with me. As your shepherd, I am your refuge. Doubt and discouragement, your enemies, are powerless. The oil of my blessings will overflow, and you will know a peace that passes all understanding.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Look to me as your caregiver. I love you! I have redeemed you! Let me be your firm foundation as you walk through the valleys of disappointment and green pastures of rest. I will never leave you nor forsake you, for in me you have the guarantee of eternal life.

I am the Good Shepherd. Follow Me!
