Devotional Thoughts for Caregivers

Verses for Encouragement Sat, Feb 1 2014

Although different, the needs of a caregiver can be as great as the needs of the one in their care. To be a caregiver is a reminder that to do good is not always easy; to give sacrificially is not always recognized; and to be available is not always convenient.

Caregivers can grow weary, even in well doing. All caregivers need strength, patience, support, and encouragement. It is important for the caregiver to know that someone cares for them.

Remember, God cares for the caregiver… Everything written long ago was written to teach us so that we would have confidence through the endurance and encouragement which the Scriptures give us. (Romans 15:4)

Here is a special selection of Bible promises to help and encourage caregivers…

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

And as for you, brethren, do not become weary or lose heart in doing right [but continue in well doing without weakening]. 2 Thessalonians 3:13 AMP

God’s love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:5 GW

The Lord is my Strength and my [impenetrable] Shield; my heart trusts in, relies on, and confidently leans on Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him. Psalm 28:7 AMP

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter 5:7 AMP

“Come to Me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Place My yoke over your shoulders, and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves because My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 GW

He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Psalm 23:2,3 NLT

Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you. Psalm 55:22 AMP

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8 NKJV

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NKJV

He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! 2 Corinthians 12:9 AMP
